My room was A14, and I enjoyed the quiet, tasteful setting and felt it was good value for money. The one safety detail that needs attention is the raised bathroom entrance: I caught my toe on it and it bled a little, so covering the floor edge with a plastic shield could help. The hotel was very clean, with fresh towels and linen, soap, body wash, conditioner, tea and coffee for self-service, and an extra blanket. The bed and pillows were good, and the room had a TV with some DSTV channels, air conditioning, a study table, chairs, comfortable lighting, and a bedside phone with assistance numbers. The bathroom was ensuite with a shower and hot water. Corridors had cameras, there was a lift between the first floor and ground floor, and the yard was lovely. Security felt strong, with access control, 24-hour security, and a police station just behind the hotel. Reception was friendly, the help desk could be reached by phone 24/7, and the experienced supervisor was good at solving problems. The food was good quality, served by a friendly chef and caring waiters. I saw about three conference halls, and free Wi-Fi was available. My personal rating is 5. Compared with other mega hotels I’ve visited, it mainly needs a gym and a bar. It could suit families or business stays.

The food was the only part I enjoyed. I wasn't given a room on the first floor, and then the geysers boiled over toward morning and flooded my room. Walking barefoot through the water while packing my things left me with a cold. It was a really terrible experience.

Housekeeping knocked on my door before 8 in the morning, which woke me up. I’ve never had staff come to clean an occupied room before 10, and not everyone gets up with the chickens. The rooms were old and freezing, with no insulation despite the cold climate. The rooms and service were very poor, and I paid triple what I should have. I could pay the same amount at a luxury hotel in Sandton. A bad experience.

On 25-27 March 2022, the Mpumalanga Primary Schools Athletics Team stayed here. The facility was very good, and the staff were professional, friendly, and gave excellent service.
