Fernwood Manor made us very comfortable in winter, with heating available when we needed it. We stayed in the lovely King Suite, and really appreciated the quality linen and comfortable bed. The area was quiet and peaceful, and breakfast was lovely too. We couldn’t get the fireplace in the shared living room going. Some instructions nearby, or someone at reception to help, would have been useful.

We booked Fernwood Manor for the weekend of our daughter’s Cape Town wedding. The gardens are magnificent and the rooms comfortable. Emanuela and her staff were a delight.

It’s a quiet, green area, a reasonable drive from Cape Town. My partner and I stayed three nights, and everything was great: our room was large and comfortable, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was good.

We’ve just had our second stay at Fernwood Manor, this time in the Queen Suite, with my wife and our 7-month-old baby. The bathrooms are immaculate, the rooms spacious and the facilities wonderful. Everyone was professional and friendly, and the place has a welcoming, home-away-from-home feel. Breakfast is incomparable, and the location is central. We enjoyed it so much that we’ll be back for a third, fourth, fifth visit and many more.

The shared spaces had a lovely home-like feel, and our room looked toward the back of Table Mountain. Fernwood was great for an overnight stay, with Kirstenbosch botanical gardens within walking distance. I’m not sure it’s the best base for a tourist exploring Cape Town, but it’s a lovely little hotel all the same.
