We had a blast and will definitely return. It’s a cozy, intimate place with all the comforts and little luxuries of home, and the sweet, friendly hostesses made sure our time in stilbaai was a pleasure.

Nicolene was friendly and very helpful, and I thought this was the best value accommodation in Stilbaai. It’s a spotless, well-located self-catering apartment near the amenities, within walking distance of the river mouth and beach. The two-bedroom unit has a stove, microwave, fridge, and an outdoor patio with a built-in braai.

Dear Nicolene, your care made our stay feel really special. The setting and service were brilliant, and it was the best value for money we’ve had. We had a great time and look forward to staying there again.

The place was nice, very clean, and otherwise a good stay, but the deposit situation left a bad impression. At the last minute, before we went in, the owner asked for R 1000 in case of breakages. That was fine, but when we asked for an inspection before leaving, we were told to go and trust that the housemaid would inspect afterwards and they’d refund us. That left it as our word against theirs. They said the veranda floor paint had come off, with two flakes about 3 cm stuck to shoe soles after the rain. We hadn’t thought anything of it. There were apparently white spots in the paint too, though we don’t know about those. Maybe the floor had been freshly painted before we arrived and the rain caused it, but we can’t say. They also said a towel, or perhaps some towels, had spots. We hadn’t checked them, since we appreciated the service when they brought a fresh change of towels, though they weren’t exactly brand new. Arguing over the photos got us nowhere, and in my eyes they kept an extra R 1000 by holding us responsible for supposed wear and tear on the floor. Luckily, we tried the oven and immediately reported that it wasn’t working. Otherwise, we might have been held responsible for that too, who knows. The stairs are steep and narrow, so the advert should mention the risk for older people and toddlers.
