Tsitsikamma Village Inn

Hunter Lodge has a lovely set of historic buildings, sits right on the tourist mile, and has friendly staff and a good breakfast. But the first rooms we were given felt musty and damp, were draughty and hard to warm up, and had very old bathroom fittings. They promptly moved us when we asked. The replacement rooms were somewhat better, but still had poor heating and weren’t really comfortable. We’d definitely stay somewhere else next time.

I’d happily come back to Tsitsikamma Village Inn. The beds were comfortable, the food was good, the shower worked well, and the rooms stayed warm enough with the heating and electric blankets, which help when it gets chilly. The staff were helpful, and the area felt quiet, scenic, and unspoiled. There’s a nature reserve right nearby that you can walk around, plus restaurants, shops, and activity centres both on site and in the village. The rooms are dated and don’t have the modern feel of newer hotels, but they have character. I like historic colonial-style buildings, and this place has really captured that look, laid out around a village green with interiors to match. I know it won’t suit everyone, but for me it was just right.

A friendly little shop with a surprisingly wide range of things for its size. Great for tourists who need the essentials.

The staff were especially friendly and attentive, which made me feel completely at ease. My room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, and I enjoyed the restaurant too. The food was delicious and the atmosphere welcoming. It was a very pleasant stay, and I’d gladly return.
