Swellendam Self Catering

We felt right at home here. The place was very clean, the hostess was so friendly, and shops are an easy walk away. Thanks, we'd happily recommend it.

Wallie was really helpful and lives down the road if you need anything. The place was comfortable and fitted all five of us easily for our overnight stop in Swellendam. We also enjoyed meeting the town's lovely people and trying its restaurants. I'd only ever driven through before, but this stay changed my mind. The town has developed in a very modern way and there are lots of options. A nice place to break up a long drive or enjoy the small-town feel.

We stayed for two nights, 25-27 Nov, for the Old Mutual Wealth Double Century Cycle event and would happily return next year for the race. Check-in was simple, and someone was easy to reach whenever we needed them. It's close to the main road, shops and restaurants. The property is well cared for, including the grass and garden, and the cottages each have their own gate, separate entrance and covered parking behind a remote-controlled gate. Inside, there are three bedrooms, two with double beds and one with a single, an open-plan kitchen with what we needed, a scullery with washing machine, and a bathroom with bath and shower. We watched some World Cup football on the TV with DSTV at night. The covered outdoor braai area, table and padded chairs and bench made a pleasant spot to sit.

Cantare greeted us warmly when we arrived at Swellendam Self Catering, showed us around, and made us feel welcome straight away. The Villa has three bedrooms: two with double beds and one with a single, plus a bathroom with both a bath and shower. The living room, kitchen and dining area are open plan, with cutlery, dishes, pots and pans provided. For a longer stay there's a laundry with a washing machine, an outdoor washing line and an iron. Bring your own detergent. Outside, the covered entertainment area has a built-in braai, wood and firelighters, and a big table with chairs. I loved the place and would recommend it. If you're coming to Swellendam, book well ahead. It's a gem.
