I’m so relieved I got out. The place is filthy, and the units are far too small to clean properly. There’s hardly any cupboard space and nowhere outside to relax. On top of that, I was charged what I consider illegal garden service fees for a service that never happens, plus basic water charges, all alongside the Netvender mess. The black mould has been slowly damaging the whole place for as long as it’s been there, and my already fragile lungs have been permanently harmed by it. There’s no ventilation and no boundaries around the buildings, so you can’t escape the rising damp. If you’re in a top-floor unit like my friend, the ceiling could come down on you at any time, especially since the extractor fans don’t work. I moved in because of the Google photos, which are very misleading. Maybe it looked that way five minutes after it was built more than five years ago, but now there are flies, maggots and cockroaches. I’ve never seen so many cockroaches in my life.

I enjoyed living in these peaceful, safe apartments. The pool area is lovely for relaxing, and having a gym is a great addition.

The unit itself was dirty, with urine on the toilet and maggots on the floor. The mop had maggots too. The air conditioner had no remote, the washing machine didn’t work, the shower leaked and soaked the floor, and the clothing rack was broken. The carports were far from the unit, and the N2 is right nearby, so there was a lot of highway noise. Residents could also be noisy all night. This is a huge residential complex with hundreds of units, only a few of them rented to holidaymakers. It feels like a big block of flats, not holiday accommodation, and it’s far from the beaches. Security was extremely strict, but we had trouble getting in at first because the owner or agent hadn’t sent our documents. Every entry involved time-consuming ticket, vehicle and licence scans. If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday, this definitely isn’t the place. It wasn’t the luxury holiday accommodation that was advertised.

A horror show. Estate management keeps changing, and security is so strict, yet they let their friends in for a swim. Expect screaming kids, Sunday drag racing on the road, and another guessing game over who the estate manager is this month. The rent is R13 000 p/m, and therapy isn’t included.
