Issaquena Heights Boutique Hotel

Our ocean-view room was spacious after we upgraded, but quite a few things let us down. The fridge wouldn’t stay cold, we couldn’t get the TV working, and we had to be patient with the shower, which took forever to heat up. We’d booked our anniversary weekend because the restaurant and spa were advertised, but both were closed. Breakfast had to be ordered the night before, and when we went down in the morning nobody greeted us, so we had to find someone in the kitchen. It didn’t feel welcoming. Sadly, it wasn’t worth what we paid, and we won’t be back.

The location was beautiful, but the service at my April 26th wedding was deeply disappointing. Food came extremely late, with only six guests served at a time. By the time it reached the tables it was cold, and portions got smaller with each round. We had 100 guests, but not even 60 were properly served both food and dessert. Dessert service was just as sporadic. Staff put desserts on empty tables after many guests had left because everything was moving so slowly, then cleared them again 15 minutes later. The venue had also double-booked the space, so we had to pack up and leave abruptly, cutting the celebration short. They seemed understaffed and unprepared for an event of this size. This was meant to be one of the most memorable days of our lives, and the service was a complete failure. I can’t recommend the venue until serious improvements are made.

We loved everything about the stay, from the location and room to the pool and staff. It was probably the best place we’ve ever stayed. Fabulous, and we’d love to return. Thank you.

We’ve been coming to Knysna for years, and after such an amazing stay, we’ll definitely return to this hotel.
