aha The Rex Hotel

We stayed for just two nights. The king sized bed was super comfortable, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet was nice, with fresh omelettes or eggs made to order. Parking was spacious, and we liked how conveniently the elevator to the rooms was located there. The hotel is very close to the waterfront, which is a bonus. Wi-Fi was okay. Beyond the bed, though, I thought the room was just okay and maybe not worth the price. The bathroom is right next to the bed, separated by a sliding door, which can make privacy difficult. The TV doesn’t have modern streaming services like Netflix. A few things could be improved. There aren’t enough bathroom hooks for wet towels or the shower mat, which gets soaked because of how the shower is set up. The only place to hang them is above the toilet, out of reach and kind of icky. Hooks in the room would also help with coats and bags. The extra toilet roll is stored right above the toilet scrubber, which doesn’t feel hygienic. Our door was sticky and hard to open or close without slamming it, which could be difficult for someone with mobility issues.

The waterfront is only a short walk away, which made the location really convenient. Our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the shower stayed hot. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were so friendly. Hard to ask for more.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well kept, and the facilities were generally in good shape. But the food was a consistent letdown, poorly prepared and presented, and below even basic expectations. Staff were often discourteous and unprofessional, with rude or dismissive replies to requests. That made the stay feel unwelcoming, and despite the good accommodation, I can't recommend the place.

We arrived much too early to check in, but the staff worked something out for me and my colleague. They were wonderful, from Violet to, I think, the supervisor. The location was perfect for the mission we had planned.
