Sunflower Guesthouse & Spa

We were moved to an upstairs room instead of the ground-floor room with a private pool and braai area that we had booked. We were told, "the room is well used," then it became clear that the young people there, including staff, were having a party in the unit we were meant to use. The noise kept us from resting after work, woke us several times, and only quieted around 04h30 on our departure morning. In our room, a wall plug was coming out of the wall and the toilet had no lid. The aircon also started pouring water during the night and soaked our things.

The room itself was neat, but getting there was frustrating. The booking confirmation gave check-in as 12:00 - 23:00. When I said we were on our way, I was told it was 15:00, and on arrival I was met with a blank look and told to come back at 15:00. I explained we had a function from 13:00. We eventually got the key in the evening. Parking was a bit of a hassle because one guest kept having to move their car. There was no hot water, I never got the Wifi password, and the TV box didn't work. Music was too loud until after 21:00 and before 8:00, and the gate opened for any vehicle heading toward the premises. I should have read more reviews before booking.

The rooms and bedding weren't properly clean, and the receptionist fell below the standard I'd expect from a guest house. Other guests were very noisy, and while we were sleeping, rats ran around on the ceiling.

It was noisy and not clean, and the bedding wasn't ironed. There were used tissues in the toilet and cardboard. It seems to be some kind of student accommodation, which may explain the noise, and complaints weren't dealt with.
