Matingwe Lodge

We tried both the lodge and the tented camp and had a great time at each. They’re separate options, so the camp gives you a bit more of an adventurous stay. At the lodge, the large, thoughtfully designed rooms had private balconies and lovely bathrooms. The food there was a real standout, beautifully presented and delicious. Mike and Liza made us feel completely at ease, and the service throughout was polished and outstanding. It’s easy to see why Matingwe Game Lodge has a four-star rating, and we left feeling relaxed and comfortable.

A peaceful, beautiful lodge, with a lovely view over the little valley at breakfast. Nadine and Leon were wonderful hosts, and the cook made delicious meals every time. I’d happily recommend it.

The game drives and food were top class, and every staff member was friendly, organized, and professional. We had the most amazing romantic honeymoon experience at Matingwe Game lodge and enjoyed every minute.

The game drive and sundowners out on the range were so picturesque that photos and words really can’t do them justice. We also loved our motorcycle trip along the scenic route, with elephants, buck, zebras, and plenty more wildlife against breathtaking scenery. Watch out for the river sand, though the trip is well worth it. Riverside Tent is a must if you love the outdoors and self-catering; if being pampered is more your thing, the gorgeous chalets are there too. The lodge feels wonderfully serene, with great views. It made for a memorable weekend away. Liza and Mike are down-to-earth, lovely people and a real team, and the service was out of this world. Five stars from us. Thanks for such a lovely weekend, we’ll see you again soon. A definite must for nature lovers.
