Monica's Guesthouse

The dog woke me up at 5am, barking and running around while I was still trying to sleep. I also had to wait for someone to let me in or out, even though I was checked in, and there was no microwave in the room. In the room I stayed in, the toilet window wasn’t tinted, so someone walking behind it could see into the bathroom.

A nice spot to take a break and carry on with your trip the next day.

The food was five-star, and the rooms were clean. Staff were friendly too. There’s an Engen garage convenience store within walking distance. No DSTV, though. I’d definitely recommend it.

The shower pressure was great, and the staff were friendly, but the rooms need serious attention. Outside, the pool and round house look good, while inside the room felt like a poorly maintained motel from an American movie. The old wardrobe, corroded pipes and poor shower drainage all need work, and water pooled around me while I showered. There were dead cockroaches, and the sheets were dirty and worn. The interior needs an upgrade to match the exterior. There were no utensils or cutlery, just one towel, and no iron. The reception was often unattended. Breakfast costs extra and was disappointing, oily, and lacking seasoning and condiments. The TV is open view, the Wi-Fi disconnected about 60% of the time, and the pin plug was already full, so bring your own.
