The room had mold on the bathroom ceiling, no bulbs in the bedside lamps, and a dead battery in the Mnet remote so it wouldn't work. We also found two old pizza boxes and a slice in the clothing cupboard. When we arrived Friday, nobody was at reception. We waited 20 minutes and called the number provided, but it went straight to voicemail. The place is very outdated, with very low standards of guest relations. I can't give even one star for our stay this weekend, and definitely won't stay again.

The owners gave us such a warm welcome on day one that I felt at home right away. I'm enjoying every moment here at the Balcony Manor. The rooms, staff, gardens, and surroundings all give you peace of mind. Such a lovely place to be.

The rooms are perfectly fine, but it's the family who own and run the place that make it special, especially the mother. What an amazing mensch! I arrived at short notice for a week of business in Nelspruit, and Jenny took it on herself to cook for me even though she's not vegan and had never had to cater for one. I had gourmet meals all week, plus delicious healthy breakfast smoothies made by her daughter Drew. People wander around barefoot, the atmosphere is lovely, and they make you feel at home. The dinner table conversations were amazing too. It's not really a holiday destination, but I'd definitely stay again if I were visiting the area on holiday.

The people are awesome and the rooms are beautiful. Bed and breakfast here feels like home away from home. I fully recommend Balcony Manor, you won't want to leave.
