Karula's got the feel of stepping back into the 80s, and I mean that in a good way. The decor reminds me of Grandma's house, and the food tastes like it came from Grandma's kitchen. I travel to Japan quite often, so the change of pace was exciting, and the service was great too. Just please put a hair dryer in every room. Having to go to reception to get one is tedious and annoying for no good reason.

I was there for one night on a work trip. It really feels like the bush, with trees and thick greenery all around. The owner made us feel welcome, and there’s a bar on site. Dinner was decent home cooking with several courses, including fish, lamb, chicken and dessert. The rooms have air conditioning, and the Wi-Fi was great.

The location is convenient and well cared for, and the service was a real pleasure. The whole team deserves credit, especially Johnathan, who was kind and considerate. There’s a genuine charm to the hospitality here.

A lovely retro feel, good cooking, and a comfortable stay at a price that felt affordable. The hotel is beautiful, too.

Tom, Chandy and the rest of the friendly staff always look after us so well. It’s a great base when heading to Kruger or exploring White River and the surrounding area. I’d be surprised if you found a better five-course dinner menu elsewhere.
