Pizo Lodge

They had no room for me when I arrived, even though I’d paid in full and booked almost a month ahead. Kabwe was fully booked for the Mulungushi graduation, so I had to find somewhere else late at night after spending money on a taxi to get to this place, which is far off the main road. The staff blamed someone who no longer worked there and took no responsibility. I can’t recommend it.

Getting to Pizo means dealing with a road that needs work, but the paved entrance and clean, green surroundings make up for it. My room was clean, the sheets were great, and there was hot water. The price was reasonable too. During power outages, the sockets should still work, though the solar powered lights staying on is great.

The conference bathrooms near the kitchen badly need work. With more than 200 people at various workshops, there was no running water, and the setup was a mess. A thin piece of cardboard separates the women's and men's sides, so you can hear everything on the other side. People outside can see into the bathrooms too. I was, and still am, disappointed that such a good looking environment has facilities this pathetic. I wouldn't recommend the place unless those bathrooms are fixed.

The lodge is decent and well located. The DSTV selection is limited, and the Wi-Fi needs an upgrade.
