We stayed there with our son quite a few years ago, and it's still a great memory. At Christmas, all the guests dined together, which felt spirited and fun. Everyone received a charming little sculpture made by local artists. Ours was a hand-carved stone hippo in a pond, and it's still in my living room. We could hear the hippos snorting in the river as we went to bed and woke up, and hornbills were in the trees right outside our villa. I'm sorry to hear the hotel closed last year, and hope it opens again.

The food was better than many Michelin-starred restaurants, and the management and staff treated us with impeccable grace and warmth throughout our stay. The lodge and rooms were incredible, spacious, and comfortable, with a breathtaking location. Our time at The River Club was nothing short of superlative. I can't imagine giving it less than five stars, and I'd give it six if I could!

The cottages were romantic and had amazing views of the Zambezi River. I wish we'd had more than one night there. It felt like an elegant inn from days gone by, with lots of historical pictures and books I would've liked to read if we'd had more time. I'd definitely stay again.

This is a peaceful spot for honeymooners or anyone wanting a break from the city. The hotel has a colonial feel, with modern touches, and the food is tantalizing. Service was great, and all the rooms are positioned for grand views of the Great Zambezi River. It's right on top of a hill looking down at the river, which is where the name River Club comes from.

I wish I could've stayed longer. The villas are stunning, the food was amazing, and the whole place felt so peaceful. They even had a pizza shaped like the African continent! Sitting on my balcony to watch the sun set over the mighty Zambezi is something I really miss. This was luxury at a whole new level.
