Cargo88 Hotel

The staff made my weeklong stay especially enjoyable. They were warm, courteous and professional, always smiling and ready to help. The chefs also did a wonderful job, serving delicious meals with care. Cargo88 Hotel is a great place to be. It’s conveniently close to East Park Mall, the rooms are cosy, and the service is worth the money. I can’t wait to return.

The hotel looks fantastic and has a very stylish design, but some details need attention. None of the windows can be locked, and nobody managed to fix the WiFi during my three-day stay. The room is very narrow, especially the bathroom. Whenever you use the toilet paper, the whole roll falls onto the floor. The sink doesn’t work well either, so you have to make your shower quick.

We waited a very long time for our order. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing: my grilled salmon was dry, served on a tiny bed of spinach with some cucumber, and my partner’s lamb shanks didn’t meet expectations. The hotel is conveniently located, and I like its warehouse feel. We went for dinner and had a really friendly waiter. It’s a shame I didn’t get his name.

The team were so welcoming, and we enjoyed the food and wines. We’d told the hotel in advance that we needed one gluten-free meal for someone with celiac disease. The waitress wasn’t sure what that meant, but the chef came out, talked us through which dishes could be made gluten-free, and was great about it. The location is handy, right across from East Mall. The hotel itself is stunning, with great decor and a fun, quirky Cargo 88 concept. I didn’t realize when booking that our room would be tiny, though, and for two nights it felt too cramped for us. It got hot and stuffy, the bathroom was cramped, and the shower didn’t work properly. We also asked reception to have housekeeping deal with bugs. The WiFi was poor, and we reported it to reception about three times. If we return, we’d choose a larger room with a balcony.
