Gloria Inn Hotel

The staff have been very polite on both of my dinner visits, and the hotel has a magnificent amount of space. The trouble is that they keep running out of menu items, and what they do serve doesn't feel worth the price.

The rooms were comfortable enough that I could settle in and enjoy my own space without feeling I needed to go elsewhere. Staff were friendly and very professional, too. I came from Lusaka for a short time in Ndola and chose to stay here. Breakfast was the one letdown. I had hoped for something more satisfying, but it fell short. Still, there's room to improve, and I'd come back.

It's tucked behind Kafubu Mall & Shoprite, so you might not notice the hotel. Inside, the bedrooms are huge, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was good, the price was reasonable, and electricity and hot water both worked without a problem.

The place has potential, but it still feels like a new hotel finding its feet. It's very clean and spacious, and just a short walk from Kafubu mall. Rooms run from ZMW2500 for the cheapest to ZMW5100 for the most expensive. For those prices, breakfast is extremely basic. I can understand that they may still be getting things organized, but the drinks were limited to soft drinks, water and alcohol. I don't take fizzy drinks or alcohol, so I mostly drank water during my stay, with dilution juice now and then when it was available. Toiletries like shampoo, sanitary bags and lotion also weren't replaced after I used them. The conference setup needs work as well. There's one main meeting room, and they sometimes use the living room area in the ZMW5100 suites as smaller conference spaces. A couple of times the conference room hadn't been cleaned, and we had to ask for things like extension cords, pens and notepads. I hope it improves as more guests come through. For now it's not quite there, though it has potential.
