Lyawa Lodge

A quiet place to get away and unwind. I liked listening to the water lap against the stones along the shore of Lake Kariba.

The restaurant fish was tasty, well cooked, and a generous size, and Lake Kariba looks great from here. We visited during the corona pandemic. The beach was clean, with lots of monkeys there in the morning, though they left us alone. Our room was dusty and there was no cleaner, perhaps because they weren’t expecting guests during the pandemic. They gave me a broom, so I had to clean it myself. Apart from that, it’s a good place and I still recommend it.

The lake view stands out more now, and sleeping has improved with the American bed and mattress. They’re trimming the garden, and the trees have grown with the continued watering. There’s a new manager, and simple renovations have started. Building the swimming pool is the current project. Local tourism has kept them busy, with room occupancy around 75%. The place is very nice.

We had such a relaxing stay with comfortable rooms and really friendly staff. My friends and I loved the lake view and got to see a beautiful sunrise. I’ll be back soon.
