Cresta Jameson

The Security Team from New World made a great first impression with their smiles and warm welcome. They were professional and excellent, as were some of the other staff. It’s a fantastic place.

The rooms are nice, but this is an old hotel that badly needs renovation. I know I’m not in the US, but there are some real issues: three bathroom mirrors need replacing because you can’t see a clear image, the sink fixtures are loose, and there are no shower curtains. There’s also a mirror above the bathtub, which feels weird. The lighting is dim even at its brightest, and there are bugs. Staff service moves at a very slow pace.

I’d rate it four stars, even though some sites call it three. It’s clean and comfortable, with polite staff, spacious rooms at an affordable price, neat bathrooms, free Wi-Fi and parking, plus a 24-hour front desk and room service. The CBD location gives quick access to services. Some rooms, the restaurant and corridors keep an old-time look. There are outdoor and rooftop pools, with city views from the rooftop, and meeting facilities, a hair salon and an airport shuttle for an extra charge. Tiffany's serves African and international food in a fine dining setting; The Usual Place is a casual bar with jazz music.

The elevator trouble during my five-night stay was the one drawback. It was temporary, but could have been sorted out faster. Otherwise, I had a memorable visit to Cresta Jameson. The staff were warm, attentive and polite from the moment I arrived, and housekeeping kept my room spotless and ready whenever I wanted to relax. Breakfast buffet was up to standard, with a great range of choices, and their traditional tea quickly became my favorite part of the morning. I’d highly recommend the welcoming atmosphere and good service.
