White House Lodge

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, is set up for tourists coming to see the falls, so there are options across a wide range of prices and quality. This inn is about a half-hour walk from the town center. I walked it twice but mostly took taxis. A ride into town costs $5 USD. There’s a bit of a scam with trips the short distance to the falls, where the fare suddenly goes up to $10 USD. I didn’t see the taxi pay any extra fee for that short drive. The inn is clean, but it’s seen better days and could use some maintenance. The air conditioning works reasonably well, though power cuts aren’t unusual. We were there at the end of the hot season, so there were no mosquitos. They rely on netting, but I’d recommend bringing good repellent. Breakfast on the front porch was fine, with a decent selection and eggs made to order. They do serve liver, which seemed a little odd to me, though maybe most tourists like it. You’ll need to get other meals in town. Staff were helpful and friendly, and I enjoyed the stay overall. More generally, expect lots of people in VF Zimbabwe calling out to offer help or sell trinkets for a small fee. It gets old quickly, though it’s understandable.

Michelle and her staff were attentive to everything we might need, often anticipating it, and helped arrange all our travel, including a day trip to Botswana. The accommodation was incredibly clean, and the breakfast was lovely. The location is good, close to both the city and the falls. I’d highly recommend staying here, and I’d come back myself.

This is a lovely bed and breakfast lodge with caring staff who are incredibly attentive. The guest spaces and rooms were spotlessly clean. They helped arrange our transport to all the points of interest and took care of our needs. Breakfast had fruit, juices, and hot dishes cooked to order.

Everything was very clean, and we could come and go as we pleased. Linen, towels, and kitchen utensils were supplied. We’d brought some of our own, so we suggested to the lovely couple who made us feel welcome that they mention the provided items in their advert, to help guests know they don’t need to bring extras. I’ll definitely bring family and friends when I return in 2 yrs.
