This is a lovely hotel in a superb historic location. Our room was immaculate, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was continental style and good quality. The only slight drawback was having the bathroom downstairs from the bedroom, though that wasn’t a problem for us. It’s a very historic hotel with plenty of character.
Everything at the hotel was very clean and well maintained, and the view was fantastic. I also spent time at the restaurant and bar several times, where the service was consistently excellent. Tony made outstanding drinks and chose great music, which added a lot to the atmosphere.
We really enjoyed staying at the Cooper & Lumber Store Hotel in English Harbour. On arrival, we were upgraded to the Amazon room, a beautiful space in such a historic building. The room was comfortable and unique, and the location was excellent. I’d recommend staying here.
We had breakfast here while they were dealing with a problem with the POS terminal. When they offered us the option of paying in Euro, they wanted to charge 15% extra by using a 1 to 1 exchange rate with USD. The service felt very poor and not customer focused.
Claudius gave us a warm welcome at the Hotel and helped us get in from Falmouth. Our room combined modern luxury with historic authenticity, including mini-split air conditioning, exposed brick, and lovely beams. The view over Nelson's Harbor was wonderful. Even though the hotel was full, it felt as though we were the only guests. The staff were cheerful, helpful, and promptly available. I’m looking forward to returning soon.
