Gunpowder House & Suites

We stayed in GP 9, which felt very private, and the balcony had really comfortable chairs. The bathroom seemed newly renovated, while the room itself was basic but very clean. Check in was easy, and everyone we met, from the boat driver to the staff at both restaurants, was super friendly and helpful. The pool was awesome, with lots of different seating. We'd read that sharing it with day guests could be annoying, but that wasn't a problem for us because there were enough seats. The restaurant service was also the fastest and most efficient we've had on the island. A few things weren't as good. The pillows and blankets could have been nicer, and the shower pressure was just eh. Still, it's a great place in a great location, with lots to do and plenty of places to eat nearby. 10/10 recommend.

The spa was great, and the staff were very helpful. Shama, the receptionist, Jerry, the spa lady, and Pele, a driver, made things so easy for us in Antigua when we celebrated my best friend's birthday in jan2024. It's a lovely hotel, and I have nothing bad to say about it.

At the Gunpowder Art Gallery, paintings create a vibrant look at the art, culture, and heritage of Antigua & Barbuda. It's an outstanding collection, and tourists arriving by air or sea should make a point of seeing it, sharing it, and purchasing something.

The ambience is breathtaking, and the food is very good, so I felt we got value for money from the meal. Service from the servers needs improvement, though, and that's why I didn't give it 5 stars. Even so, I'd recommend trying it out.
