Ellen Bay Cottages

The area around Bernie's place is beautiful, quiet, and right by the water. Bernie was the best host I've ever had, and her knowledge of hospitality and her home really showed. Her niece Nyeisha was wonderful too. I'll be back to Antigua, and when I return I plan to stay at her sister property. Please look Bernie up if you're visiting, because both she and her establishment are well worth it. Until we meet again.

The upper apartment has two bedrooms with comfortable beds, plenty of space for clothes, a large fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living room with two sofas and a tv, and a bathroom. The bedrooms have new, very quiet AC's, and laundry can be done downstairs. There is also a small balcony looking directly out over the sea, and early risers may be able to buy fresh fish from locals. The neighborhood is a little loud, but it just feels like normal caribbean life. A car is needed, and the airport is 30 to 40 minutes away. A small grocery store is five minutes away, while nightlife requires going elsewhere. The next beach is a 10-minute drive. The hosts are friendly and helpful, and this is a nice place to stay.

We especially liked the sea view from the balcony, which is why I'd suggest choosing one of the slightly larger upstair appartments. The cottages are very clean, pleasant, and well equipped. A higher 4x4 is recommended for the last meters, though there is a parking lot near the cottages. Guests can also use the laundry, then dry their clothes outside in the sun.

The host and the management team on site provided 5 star customer service. Everyone was extremely helpful and made a real effort to keep our stay pleasant. Their hospitality was so good that the small issues hardly mattered. I couldn't be happier with the experience.
