La Vue Boutique Anguilla

The island is small, so wherever the hotel is located, it doesn't take long to drive around. What stood out most to me was the hotel staff, who were very appreciated. And you really can't beat the cute dog greeting guests at the door.

Mary Ann, Gary and Kodi were a big part of why I'd come back to La Vue. The service and location are top notch, and for the price we had a great stay. The rooms could use some work, though. Our window wouldn't close, there was no bar of soap, and the room wasn't fully tidy, with an unswept area behind the bed, a small blood stain on the sheet, and old appliances left unplugged. Even so, it was good value.

This is a charming little hotel with clean, cozy grounds and spacious rooms that have a great view of Sandy Ground. The receptionist was very nice and extremely helpful. A nearby local bar can get noisy when people are having fun. Our one bad experience was breakfast. We were the only guests in the restaurant, but the waiter didn't come over right away. When he finally did, he looked unfriendly, wore dirty sweatpants, and didn't respond to our greeting. We left without eating.

The sunset view is genuinely gorgeous, which fits the name, but the rest of our stay was disappointing. The restaurant is really just three or four tables and a coffee bar now, since it's only open for breakfast. The pool was an unpleasant shade of green, the rooms were merely okay, and the bathroom had mold on the ceiling and soap scum on the faucets. We also found hairs on the walls and behind the door. The rooms felt cold and unwelcoming, and the TV was about the size of a laptop screen. The bed was fine and the AC worked very well. Walking to food isn't convenient, since there is no food on the hotel grounds apart from breakfast. The barred lobby and hotel-room doors weren't reassuring either. We had to leave after one night when we were called out, and the manager was kind enough to work with us on shortening the stay, though there was still a 500 per room cancellation fee despite all these issues. Losing the room key would also cost 300 for a replacement. There are many better options on the island now.
