Guest House Mikel

The large room was rustic but very clean, with lots of windows and a great view. The location in the town center was excellent, the directions were easy to follow, and payment was straightforward. Breakfast was very good and the value was too. Their spinach burek was the best one ever. The only thing I could criticise is that the friendly elderly owners felt a little too present at times, almost as if they were checking on us.

The top-floor room gave us an incredible view of Berat, the river, and the distant mountains. The windows let in some noise, but that was understandable. It was around 32°C in July, yet the AC kept the room pleasantly cool for sleeping. The house is only about a three-minute walk from the first cafes and restaurants, with the river just across the road. The shared bathroom downstairs was exceptionally clean, and our room was spotless. When we arrived, the mother, whose name I unfortunately forgot, brought us orange juice and a kind of ice cream cake that was probably one of the best desserts I've had here. She also cooked an amazing breakfast, far more than we could finish. This was one of the nicest places we stayed in Albania, and I'd recommend it for a short stay if you want to be close to town, well fed, and happy with the service.

Mikel and his parents made the stay feel like home, and his mother's breakfast was the best we had in Albania. Our twin room opened onto an amazing balcony overlooking Berat. Mikel also suggested Bogova Waterfall as a place to cool down, which was especially welcome during the hot August weather. We'd definitely stay here again.

Our host gave us such warm and pleasant hospitality.
