The room was spacious, clean, and pleasant, with plenty of storage, and it was cleaned every day. We were lucky to have a sea-facing room. The rooms facing the road are extremely noisy, and I felt sorry for the people staying in them. Still, my mother and I had a very unpleasant week in August, and I can’t recommend the hotel. We arrived around 11 pm and the young man at reception seemed completely uninterested. He was curt and unpleasant, gave us no information about our stay, and seemed bothered by having to check us in. From the first day, reception staff seemed more interested in their phones and WhatsApp chats than in guests. The restaurant was worse. The food was usually cold, though we did enjoy it, and the same dishes were served all week. Hygiene was really poor: tables were dirty, the oil and vinegar bottles were greasy and covered in dust and food residue, and the damp salt couldn’t be used to season anything. The restaurant staff, who were young students, were unpleasant and unfriendly. Sometimes they left dirty dishes on the table, and other times they took away fresh food while we were pouring a drink. There were only three coffee machines, they worked very slowly, and the queues were long. The beach is a short walk away, but the street leading to it smelled of open sewers. There was rubbish and cigarette butts on the beach. Polish and Ukrainian tourists blowing their noses and spitting in the water was really disgusting. There were no toilets or showers. The beach bar was a plus, as were the many sunbeds and umbrellas.

Food, service, and facilities were far below what was advertised, and I wouldn’t stay at Duress Bay Hotel again. We booked through Love Holidays on an all-inclusive package, but were refused food on arrival and had to pay extra ourselves. I’d emailed the hotel ahead of time to ask about dinner and local taxis, but got no reply. The all-inclusive meals were very poor, with vegetarian choices limited to plain rice and potatoes. The bars closed early, and activities advertised such as beach volleyball and water sports were unavailable or cost extra. A few staff members were friendly, but most were unhelpful and service was inconsistent. Love Holidays also offered no support when these problems came up.

We spent a week here and had a very good impression overall. The hotel is close to the promenade, which was great for evening walks, and the upper floors have a lovely sea view. Service was kind and helpful, the rooms were clean and tidied every day, and breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice. The rooftop Infiniti pool has a beautiful panorama.

The balcony view was breathtaking, and the spacious, spotless room was tastefully decorated, with lovely linens and luxurious toiletries. Breakfast was another highlight, with plenty of fresh choices, local dishes, and international favorites. The restaurant team were friendly, attentive, and happy to accommodate requests. We also enjoyed the peaceful pool, the calming spa with its range of treatments, and the well-equipped fitness center. The hotel had a serene atmosphere, and reception made check-in easy while sharing useful local tips. Every person we met, from housekeeping to management, was professional, kind, and clearly committed to making our stay special. We had warm hospitality and impeccable service from arrival onward.

The breakfast buffet was fresh and tasty, and I liked the quiet pool area and modern design. Durrës Bay Hotel felt calm and relaxing, just right for a summer break. My room was spotless and spacious, with a lovely balcony and view. The staff were kind, attentive, and ready to help, and everything seemed well organized and professional. I’d definitely come back. Highly recommend it for a visit to Durrës.
