Guest house Hava Baci

The room at Hava Baci gave us amazing views from high above the highest side of the West Bank of Berat Old Town, which is the prettiest town I’ve seen in 25 years of travel. Reaching that view was hard work, though. I had to half carry and half drag my 12kg roller bag over cobblestones through a maze of stone-walled paths, each steeper than the last. Be realistic about your abilities. There’s one mule on duty at the bottom, and I’m sure the guesthouse can arrange a transfer. You won’t be disappointed, unless perhaps you’d be better suited to staying with a group tour.

The room was clean, the bed and pillow were comfortable, and the windows offered beautiful views. There’s also a fridge, a fairly well-equipped shared kitchen, and a living area, while check-in was easy. Our only real drawback was the climb. It’s a long way to the top, and that steep walk won’t suit everyone.

The friendly host, clean rooms, amazing views, and great price make this a lovely way to enjoy Berat. The steep climb is the one thing to keep in mind, it might not be for everyone, but the view is worth the effort. It’s a long way to the top if you want to Rock n Roll.

The place itself is charming, but there isn't much sitting space. Bring good trainers because parking may be far from the flat, followed by an uphill climb along a narrow cobbled path.
