Amalia's House

Our family had an amazing stay at Amalia’s house. It was quiet and spotless, with a traditional feel, and close to everything. I couldn’t imagine a better place to stay in Gjirokastra. Highly recommended.

Linda's welcome and help made a big difference when we arrived late in the evening somewhere new. She was ready to help with directions and logistics, replying on WhatsApp and even calling. Amalia's is in a quiet spot in the old historic neighborhood, with cozy rooms and a lovely garden, yet the attractions are only a five-minute walk away. Wonderful stay and great value, right in the heart of the old city. An absolute pick.

I felt very safe here as a solo female traveler, even at night, and Linda was kind, attentive, and knew the surrounding area well. The house had just been renovated, so the appliances in my room were new. The shower was clean and came with towels, the mirror had a light setting that was handy for makeup, and there was AC as well as windows I could open for fresh air. They were installing a kitchenette for guests when I left. The location was convenient for getting around. It’s in a quieter area on a hill, with just some people walking by and cars during the day and night. The old Bazaar and restaurants are about a 5-7 minute walk away, and the bus station is around 15 minutes on foot, mostly along a main avenue with shops and restaurants. The price was very reasonable, too. 10/10 experience, I’d say stay here if you can.

It’s a traditional Gjirokastër house that’s been renovated really nicely, just a few minutes from the town center. We had a great stay and would definitely come back if we get the chance.
