The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, and they really put smiles on our faces. Our room and bathroom were both very spacious, the beds were comfortable, and everything was clean. We were also allowed to leave most of our luggage at the hotel for a few days while traveling to Valbone and Theth. The only drawback was the shower, which had no curtain or divider, so the whole bathroom got wet. We soon learned that this is fairly common in Albanian hotels. I’d definitely recommend Hotel Carmen.

Hotel Carmen is in the central part of Shkodër, Albania, so everything is close by. The reception team were welcoming and helpful when suggesting places to eat and visit. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the hotel had a very high standard of service. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

The location couldn’t be better. The receptionist promised me a nicer room for my second and third nights, but when that didn’t work out, he kindly took me out for coffee. Unfortunately, the WiFi in my room wasn’t reliable enough for evening work, so I had to use the lobby of another hotel instead. Privacy was also a problem. On two occasions, staff knocked and entered almost immediately before I could answer, and on three other occasions they unlocked the door and came in without knocking.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants around this centrally located hotel. The room was comfortable, with a large bathroom, and everything was very clean. The service was really good, and I highly recommend the place.

A cool, comfortable hotel right near the city’s energy and nightlife.
