Ikona Hotel

Joanna was the highlight, she made us feel so welcome in Shkoder. We booked at the last minute in the off season and stayed three nights in mid-October. Our triple room was clean and just the right size for two. We could park the car right beside the hotel steps, breakfast was okay, and the laundry service was quick and easy. The room stayed quiet on a Saturday night, despite the busy bars and restaurants all around, so the sound insulation seemed good. The hotel is spotless and looks recently renovated, right in the city center on a pedestrian street. Getting there by car is the tricky part: access is very limited, so plan your route or leave the car outside the pedestrian area.

For people who enjoy walking around town, this place is a hidden gem. I guided a lovely little group from Belgium last week, and they had booked online. The rooms were clean and really nice, and breakfast was amazing. The staff earned top marks for quick service and great communication. There’s free parking as well, and I’d happily recommend it.

The location is hard to beat, right in the center, and the provided parking was useful despite being narrow. Getting there by car can confuse navigation apps: turn onto Rruga Gjuhadol from Rruga Marin Bicikemi, a one-way street that leads comfortably to the hotel. That road is closed from 9 am to noon and 7 pm to midnight. If you need to drive out during those hours, you can try Rruga Gurazezëve. The room was clean and nice, with a small fridge and hairdryer, but no kettle or usual coffee and tea set. We had a couple of power interruptions, though they were fixed quickly. Evening street music was tolerable and stopped overnight. There’s no lift, so large suitcases are awkward, but the receptionist helped. Breakfast was okay, with limited choices: eggs, sausage, cheese, jam, vegetables, bread, and cake. Five stars from me for the great location, parking, and a trouble-free stay.
