Hotel Continental

The room was roomy, spotless, and comfortable, with everything we needed to relax. The staff at Hotel Continental were warm and helpful, always greeting us with a smile. We had a great stay from beginning to end.

At Hotel Continental, the staff were friendly and professional, and the food was delicious. Our room was clean, and everything felt comfortable and well organized. I was impressed during my trip to Albania and would definitely return.

The one bright spot was the kind woman at reception, probably the manager, who agreed we could check out at 12:30. Even then, we had to wait in the lobby for an hour and a half. Apart from her, the staff were rude and sometimes downright disrespectful. After a lovely holiday in Albania, this place spoiled my impression of the country. We were guests from a Ryanair overbooked flight. At check-in, a young receptionist said breakfast was in the morning and dinner began at 7 p.m. When we asked when dinner ended, he said, “until you finish eating.” There were stains on the pillows, ripped sheets, a crooked mirror that made me dizzy to look at, and no shower doors. We managed. At 7:15 p.m. we went to dinner on the terrace, but the waiter said overbooking guests had to sit inside. We asked if we could bring restaurant food out to the terrace and he said no, without explaining. The food was average: tasteless soup and overly salty rice, though edible. Afterward we tried to order wine on the terrace. The waiter served other tables and ignored us. We waited a long time for the menu, then nearly an hour for him to come back. He didn’t apologize for the delay, just asked, “So, did you manage to choose something?” We left. Breakfast the next morning was classic and fine, but there was no coffee or tea until we asked twice. That evening we returned for dinner at 7:15. A very rude receptionist immediately told us, “Dinner is at 7:00, if you want to eat, go find the manager.” When we said nobody had told us the ending time, she answered even more unpleasantly, “Then go to the restaurant.” Dinner was okay, with soup from the day before, a main course, and dessert. It was edible. My partner left dinner early and ran into the same receptionist, who said the airport transfer was Sunday at 2 p.m. but we had to check out at 11. The room cards clearly said noon. Luckily the kind woman at reception agreed to let us check out at 12:30, though we still had the long lobby wait. Comments like “Did you manage to choose something?” and “Dinner is at 7:00, if you want to eat, go find the manager” say enough.

The room was clean and comfortable, and check-in was quick and straightforward. From arrival onward, the staff were welcoming, professional, and attentive. I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Continental.
