Hotel Belux

There was construction going on in the building, and it was so loud every day that I couldn't sleep. We definitely weren't warned about it. The shared area also felt strange, with a group of men sitting around smoking and staring at you. Things in the room seemed to fall apart as soon as we touched them. There was no cleaning service, so we ran out of toilet paper immediately, and the bedsheets had stains. Light came straight into the room because there was no curtain, and the bathroom window didn't even have a screen.

The room was big, nice, and clean, and it was the nicest hotel room I've ever had, especially for the low price. The location was perfect for getting to the center and tourist spots. Breakfast wasn't buffet-style, but that wasn't a big issue.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the hotel was well located and clean. I paid around 90€ for 3 nights, but for the same amount you might find a more comfortable Airbnb. I also didn't like the strong cigarette smell in the breakfast area. I'm not a smoker, and eating with that smell bothers me. Other than those two things, it was fine.

I booked through Booking nine months before my trip, and the reservation was confirmed. They were supposed to take payment at check-in, and I had left my card details. Two days before check-in, I got an email directly from the hotel saying there was a problem with water pipes and repair work was needed. Another message came through Booking, saying they wanted to cancel because I hadn't paid yet, even though they hadn't asked me to pay in advance. I chose to cancel myself. Right after that, they put the same room back on Booking at a higher price. Check the feedback carefully, and you'll see other people have reported this unfair strategy too. I also reported them to Booking. Avoid this poor hotel at any cost.
