I’d avoid paying by credit card here. At check-in, after I used my card, the host said the payment had been rejected, though he didn’t show me a rejection receipt, and asked me to try again. The charge appeared immediately in my card app, so I showed him. He still insisted it had failed and told me to wait another 20 minutes, then check again at checkout. Seventeen hours later, at checkout, the transaction was still marked “pending.” The host said it had to show as “complete” or it was rejected. I asked him to provide a receipt or other proof of rejection, but he refused. The host, an older man, then started talking about how I should respect my elders. That’s how I respond to someone I think is trying to scam me. The payment finally went through at 3 PM. I’m worried I could have been charged twice if I hadn’t checked right away and refused to pay again. I never expected this in Armenia, a country I thought of as friendly and honest.

The owner was helpful and spoke good English, and I really appreciated being able to use the washing machine and clothes dryer for free. I’d booked a private room, which was very large, with comfortable beds.

We booked the apartment, which can fit around eight people. The guest house has no restaurant or parking of its own, though there’s a nearby place to park. The rooms are clean and spacious. Vanadzor felt boring to me; we were there for three days and didn’t find much to do. If you’re looking for more to enjoy, I’d choose Dilijan or Yerevan.

We found a restaurant just across the street, and the owner or staff were friendly and welcoming, with good English. The location is very central, the rooms are very clean, and the price was very affordable. Everything felt right for what we paid.

The owners are helpful whenever you need something, and this family-run place has a homey feel. Our room was very clean, and breakfast was free, homemade, healthy, and really yummy. They also provide a contract to protect everyone's rights. A cute spot for a few restful days in Vanadzor, especially if you want to enjoy the beautiful nature there. :)
