La Justina Hostel

The manager was really helpful with suggestions for things to do and places to visit, and breakfast was a highlight, especially the homemade scones and jam. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, about a 40-minute walk from the main bus station and five blocks from the town center, down a steep hill. Our room near the main entrance was noisy, and the rooms don’t have much soundproofing. It was also small, with a very narrow shower room and cramped shower. The toilet flush was flimsy and broke during our stay, and the shower head could have used cleaning or replacing. Hopefully those problems have been fixed since our visit. The friendly service and breakfast still made the stay enjoyable, though there’s room for improvement.

There’s a welcoming common area where you can meet other travelers, with a well equipped kitchen. Couples can also book one of the private rooms and still socialize. The owners are kind and supportive, and the hostel feels cosy, almost like home. It’s well maintained, with cleaning going on through the day. The shared bathrooms were always clean and had toilet paper, soap, and shampoo. Wifi worked well in all the rooms, and towels were included. Breakfast was good and free. Just remember to bring cash, since that’s the only payment method.

Leo and Santiago put so much work into this place, they hardly seem to stop. Breakfast came with fresh bread and scones and delicious coffee. I had the best New Years Eve there, with food for 25 people. I’ve never eaten so much meat in my life! One of the best hostels you could stay at.

It’s a family hostel, so the atmosphere isn’t the wildest, but there’s lots of space in the kitchen and social areas, and they’re well equipped. The hosts are lovely and clearly care about their guests. We really enjoyed staying here, especially the homemade bread, scones, and cake at breakfast.
