Las Gaviotas

The room had a large bed and a great view of the lake. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and the shared area was good, with a lake view and a spot to barbecue. The bathroom was cramped, with a tiny toilet and a shower about the size of one in an RV, and there was no bidet. The stairs were steep to manage with luggage. The kitchen utensils were poorly supplied, and the frying pan was unusable.

The only small frustration was the shower: water pressure was low, and it could take a while to get hot. After a cold day hiking, that wasn’t ideal, though it’s minor compared with how beautiful the cabin is. The loft-style cabins are cozy, with breathtaking views of Nahuel Huapi. The location sits between downtown Bariloche and Circuito Chico, making hikes, restaurants, breweries, and plenty more easy to reach. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

There’s a private beach for hotel guests, and the setting is peaceful, beautiful, and quiet. It’s right on the main route, midway between downtown and the main attractions. Every room has a great lake view and good Wi-Fi. The front desk women were really nice and helpful, and guests can use three grills for free along with a common hall that’s great for remote work. There’s also a very cute dog named Limón. We were glad we chose this place.

The views matched what was promised, with lake views from every room, and the water pressure and temperature were great. The location is near the Cerro Otto Cable Car and not too central. The apartments have furniture and the appliances needed for cooking. But the value for the price didn’t feel good, especially after staying in similarly priced, nicer cabins near Las Gaviotas. There were lots of stairs, and the elevator only covered half of them. It had been switched off by checkout, even though we’d clearly given our checkout time, so I had to haul our luggage up and down like a CrossFit session. On arrival, nobody mentioned that the safe needed a separate key, which required a deposit. I had to climb back up the stairs to get it after reaching the room. They also ignored our request to change the rock-hard mattress on my son’s bed. The curtains barely blocked daylight, and the lamps at night were intrusive. We made do by hanging a blanket over the curtains. The scheduled cleaning never got arranged, so one day we returned to find the beds had been made without any warning. The poor cleaning staff, whom we tipped when we left, had to deal with our mess; we could have tidied up a bit if we’d known they were coming that day.
