Villa Sofia Resort & Spa

We had a lovely first visit to Argentina and Bariloche, and Villa Sofia was a nice place to stay. The apartment was perfectly nice, with a mountain view, and the staff were friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. The beds felt outdated and could use replacing. We heard some noise from other hotel guests, though it wasn't excessive, and we weren't bothered by it. The walk concerned us at first, but it turned out to be a nice way to start and end the day. Bariloche is hilly, and we liked being a little away from downtown in a more residential area. If you just need a comfortable place to sleep, Villa Sofia works well.

Everything else was great, and the reception staff were so nice. Camila was especially helpful. My cards never worked, though, and I wish breakfast had been included.

The laundry service was amazing: they washed and folded all my clothes. Breakfast was great, with eggs, media lunas like croissants, cereal, fruit, cheese, and pretty much anything you'd want. The room and surrounding area were well kept, and the staff were all super friendly. It's about a 15-minute walk to the city center and water, so expect plenty of walking in Bariloche. MODA bar is about five minutes away, where we watched some World Cup matches, and there's a pharmacy and grocery store nearby. I stayed for a week on my first visit to Bariloche and loved Villa Sofia. Very happy with the stay, and I'd come back. Muchas gracias!

The pool is in another compound a block away, which was very inconvenient. We also couldn't connect to the nonexistent Wi-Fi for the whole week, and the staff just shrugged. The place itself is nice, clean, and comfortable, in a great area very close to downtown bariloche. Staff were reasonably competent, but they sent my family, including my wife who was five months pregnant, to the farthest unit, 299, up two flights of stairs. Not cool. Breakfast is optional, so check your vouchers.
