Las Balsas Gourmet Hotel & Spa

We took a short walk through the forest on the hotel grounds and went horseback riding around the lake. The hotel sits by the lake, facing the National Park, with lovely mountain views, and its tucked away setting made it easy to get away from the city noise. The spa was a treat, with a warm outdoor pool and a fireplace inside. The service was welcoming, too. Outside, the building has an old historic feel, while inside it’s chic and classic with a cozy chalet look. It seems to have been renovated recently, since it looks much newer than in older photos. A wonderful stay with plenty of comfort and nature.

The staff made our honeymoon feel special and were so friendly, always going out of their way for us. I loved the small touches, like the scent that follows you from the lounges to your room and the pillow menu. Our room had a beautiful lake view, and the spa was stunning. We had an exceptional time, and I’d absolutely recommend it. Can’t wait to come back!

The location is beautiful, and the staff were kind and friendly. I hope they can sort out the food and service soon. I heard other guests mention slow service and high wine prices, and I found the wine very expensive too. It took more than 15 minutes to get water and coffee on several occasions. Even on my first night, when my husband and I were the only people in the restaurant, we waited that long for water. The fish and rice dinner portion was tiny, maybe two ounces, and my vegetarian rice dish was so small I finished it in five bites. The warm fresh bread from one dinner was served toasted the next night. When I asked for fresh rolls, they said they didn’t have any. I can only assume they were short on kitchen staff, and maybe servers as well.
