At check-in they tried to charge us using an unfavorable conversion rate, 27% more in € than in booking, so watch out. The room lock wasn't working either, though they moved us to another room. After a Tour one day, we got back late and had no water in our bathroom. Someone fixed it, but it took around 30mins before the water came back.
Palermo is a beautiful neighborhood, and as a woman traveling alone I felt very safe. The staff were extremely kind, with no issues there at all. The property itself was a real disappointment for what I paid, and I wouldn't call it a 4 star hotel. During my two days there, the AC barely worked, even after I asked them to check it, and it was peak summer. The room was hot, the balcony door kept falling, the shower handle was a mess, and the sink was tiny. Breakfast was the worst part: a brownie, stale old pastries, and cornflakes, with no fresh fruit even though there's plenty of it in BA. I had arranged a cab through the hotel for my 4:15 am flight, but it showed up 25 minutes late. By then I'd already booked an Uber and was heading to the airport.
I lost cash from my luggage while it was stored at the front desk. My friend was staying at the hotel, and I went out for a walk with a flight to catch that evening. They gave me a ticket for my bag, and everything seemed normal. It was only at the airport that I realized all my 100 USD bills and some cash in other currencies were gone. My IDs and cards were still there. I'd paid cash shortly before arriving at the hotel, and everything was there then, so I'm sure it happened while the bag was there. The money was buried deep inside, so someone must have opened the luggage and searched it carefully. I can't say whether it was hotel staff or someone else at the hotel, but either way it didn't feel safe and seemed like a scam. Be careful.
The website pictures don't show what the hotel actually looks like, so don't book here if you don't want to be catfished. The rooms were very small, dirty, and dated. The queen beds are really two twin beds pushed together. There's no room service or restaurant or bar on site. What a disappointment.
