Howard Johnson Abasto Hotel

The rooms and service are really poor quality. Not worth it.

The facilities are top notch, and the receptionist was fantastic. I loved how ready she was to sort out any problem and offer all kinds of recommendations. The hotel is very well located, close to Abasto shopping mall and lots of bars where you can get a beer or other drinks cheaply. The room rate isn't the lowest, but it's still very good value for what you pay. I highly recommend it.

The shower water pooled and rose, and the bathroom had only two large towels for a two-person room. There were no hand towels or bath mat, and I slipped twice. The main elevator wasn't working, so I had to take the service elevator. At check-in, one person at the desk left me waiting about ten minutes while other customers were ignored. Then the door handle was broken. Help took another five minutes to arrive, and they didn't repair it, they just showed me how to wrestle with it to get the door open. The room also smelled as if someone had smoked in it.

I had a terrible stay. There was no coffee available in the morning, and they don't offer any kosher food, not even at breakfast. I stayed three days, but the room was made up only once, and I was left without towels. Checking out took more than an hour. Apparently management was all on vacation, and there was no one to talk to.
