HR Plaza Luxor

The central location feels quite safe, and the hotel staff are great. But the rooms are dated and not cleaned properly, and breakfast is terrible. It could work for a short stay, but I wouldn't choose it for longer, since there are plenty of similarly priced options. Bring USD cash, as better pricing is available.

The staff were friendly, and the cleaning lady did a good job, but this was the worst hotel experience we had in Buenos Aires. The breakfast was probably the worst we've had at a hotel: few choices, bread that was always dry, tasteless coffee, no fruit, boxed juice, and the one good item, medialunas, disappeared in seconds and never came back. We paid extra for this, yet always had coffee outside. We were on the 9th floor. There were two elevators, but only one worked. Both had a three-person limit, yet if three people got in, the elevator stopped until someone got off. The hotel is old and in a condition unlike anything we'd seen. It's triangular, with the bathroom at the narrowest point, making the toilet very uncomfortable, especially for someone with long legs. A shower was hard to manage, swinging between scalding water and cold water just five seconds apart. The hairdryer kept overheating and shutting off, so even short hair took ages to dry; we had to wait or blow on it before it would work again. The room was a decent size, but the bed was small despite our booking a king, and felt like lying on springs. The pillows were awful, better to lie in your arms. It was winter, and when we asked for a blanket, they said they didn't have any. There was no minibar or full-length mirror either.

Really good value for the money!

The view from the 5th floor was great, and I have no complaints about my stay. The bathroom was clean, the room was spacious with large beds, and the air conditioner was new. There was no minibar, but it didn't matter since I only needed a place to sleep while spending the day exploring BA. With a 25h right across from the hotel, it was easy to buy water, soda, and food.
