The location was the one thing I loved, and the bed was comfortable. The bellman was cordial and polite, but hospitality otherwise felt nonexistent. The bathroom was very outdated. I came back after dinner at 12:15 a.m. and found no employees, security, or reception staff in the lobby or entrance. It alarmed me that anyone could walk in after midnight without staff around. At breakfast, I waited 10 minutes for coffee, then was told to serve myself. The coffee was cold, and when I asked for hot coffee, the waiter said I'd have to pay for hot café con leche. A note slipped under my door an hour after check-in warned that I had to check out by 11 the next morning or be charged. Quite a welcome. The hotel itself was very mediocre.

Once we got into the room, things were much better. It was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the heating was a big help on cold days. The bathroom and shower were highlights, both clean, with very good water pressure. The kitchen facilities seemed fine, though we didn't use them. Breakfast was simple but good, with okay coffee, medialunas, breads, and delicious ham. The quality was good for what we paid. The area felt safe to us, though we didn't stay out very late. There's an express Carrefour next door, and the Callao station on Subte B is just a few steps away for getting around the city. The stay was very pleasant, but keep in mind there's no early check-in. After a transatlantic flight, waiting more than three hours was tough. There was nowhere to shower, just one bathroom and no place to rest, so we left our bags and found somewhere to sit before exploring. If you'll arrive before 3 p.m. after a long flight, I'd suggest somewhere that offers early check-in.
