Malevo Muraña Hostel

The staff were nice, but management handled this so badly that we felt completely ripped off. After being told three times that our booking was confirmed, we ended up paying far more because of their mistake, and nearby options had become more expensive by then. We’d booked a private room for one night and asked to extend soon after checking in. The receptionist said we’d need to move to a dorm, which was fine. We checked again later that evening and were told everything was set. The next morning, though, they said we had to wait until 2pm to change rooms. When we came back that afternoon, they couldn’t find our booking. The receptionist called her boss, and after some back and forth they found us another private room, but wanted to charge three times the dorm rate. We said we shouldn’t have to pay more for their error. The manager wouldn’t change the price, so we had no choice but to pay. The service and the management’s lack of reason were awful.

My room’s locker was broken, so I had nowhere secure for my things. The team refused to refund me. The room was dirty and smelled bad too. Avoid.

The hostel is well placed for exploring the city, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Our private double felt dirty when we arrived, and the blanket seemed like it hadn’t been washed in months. We stayed six days, and our rubbish was never collected, which was especially gross in the bathroom. The front desk people came across as cold and rude, and it felt like they didn’t like foreigners. Breakfast was just a few biscuits and some meat and cheese set out at reception. It didn’t feel welcoming, so we skipped it.

The location is fantastic, safe to walk around, and the best neighborhood in Buenos Aires. Internet was reliable enough for remote work, the rooms were spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The lockers had keys provided, the bathrooms were clean with hot water at the showers and sinks, and the kitchen was organized. Breakfast was included and good enough. The staff were friendly, kind, and helpful. It’s the best hostel I’ve stayed in. There aren’t parties or organized social activities, but you can make friends with the people in your room.
