The manager changed my mind about the hotel after a rough start. When I checked in, the reception staff seemed uninterested and spoke no English. They didn’t even have a paper explaining the accommodation. The elevator took ages, especially to reach the fourth floor, though that’s a first-world problem. I found an English-language movie channel. The AC worked until morning, then leaked quickly over the bed. I had to move furniture and find buckets to catch the water, and it never worked again. The shower had plenty of hot water, the bidet was a bonus, and there were nice little complimentary shampoo sets, a safe in the wardrobe and extra bedding. I asked for help with the AC, but nothing happened at first. After New Year’s Eve, I returned at 2 a.m. and told the man at reception, who was the manager. He immediately gave us another room and checked that it suited me before leaving. That was nice. Breakfast was average. I got there at 10 a.m., with service meant to end at 11, but little was left, so I had toast and juice. The manager let me store my things when I was leaving that day, and gave us glasses and ice for our Baileys Irish Creme. The biggest downside was having no WiFi. Because of the holiday timing, they couldn’t get anyone to fix it, so we walked to McDonald’s to get online. It’s wheelchair friendly and kid friendly, but there’s no real parking. On the day we left, I was told the place was closing, maybe for a makeover or renovation.
