Up Retiro

I had a great experience here. The room was always clean and the service was lovely. I arrived at 6 AM, and they let me check in even though check-in wasn’t until 3 PM.

There’s potential here, though our three-night stay was very basic. The room was large, but it lacked things like a small table, cups, and bottled water. The place needs renovation to attract more guests. The location is the best part: Catalinas metro station is a minute away, Florida street is about 100m away for changing money, and it’s a little over a ten-minute stroll to Puerto Madero.

I came for two nights after a 14-hour flight and arrived late, but someone started working right outside my room near the window at 8 AM, so I couldn’t sleep. The bed wasn’t good, and I didn’t feel secure in the room. There was no internet in the room at all, despite the free room internet they advertise. At reception they told me to use the lobby for free internet. They kept changing my room, even though they knew the internet still wouldn’t work, so they just wasted my time. I’d paid in advance and trusted what I read online and the price. Don’t make the same mistake. Pay a little more and stay somewhere else.

A very basic hotel, maybe for emergencies if you’re stranded or have no other options. I wouldn’t recommend it for couples or families. The service was standard, nothing special. The rooms have very old furniture and decor, a few smells coming from the curtains and carpet, and not enough light. Breakfast was basic too, like a low-cost airline meal. At least the location is good.
