Conte Hotel

The hotel is steps from Obelisco, about five blocks from Casa Rosada, with several metro stations nearby. Its location is unbeatable. The lounge is spacious and nicely decorated, with very large windows. Staff were friendly and responded quickly to requests. My room had a nice view of Avenida 9 de Julio, a great shower, A/C, and a very comfortable bed. The rooms are pretty large, too, and prices are fair for the area. The rooms and hallways feel dated and could use renovation. Breakfast needs more variety, and the coffee wasn't very good.

The central location is excellent, but breakfast was disappointing. During my three-week stay, I found mold on the jello one day. It also seemed like cereal, bread, and coffee were left out overnight so they wouldn't have to prepare them again the next day. The hotel is well located, but just eat somewhere else.

The road noise was awful. Even from the 11th floor we could hear honking, buses braking, and tires screeching. Agoda also said Conte Hotel offered airport bus transfers, but it doesn't. After our long flight, we checked in at 3:30 pm. The staff seemed unhappy and weren't friendly. Room 301 was unbearably hot, and after over 30 minutes with the air conditioning on, nothing had changed. A handyman came up but couldn't fix it, so reception moved us to Room 701. We opened the door and found people's bags and people inside. They agreed to give us a bigger room. At 5:30 pm, two hours after check-in, we got Room 703. The air conditioning worked, so we unpacked again. But when we tried to leave for dinner at 6:30, the door wouldn't lock from the outside. The handyman came back and spent more than half an hour trying, without fixing it. By then it was past 7 and we were starving. I went down to ask what they had against us. Four hours and three rooms later, we still weren't settled. They moved us to a fourth room, 1103, where the air conditioning was as hot as in the first room. We gave up. It was after 8 pm, almost five hours after arrival, and we spent the night sweating and unable to sleep. After all that, don't we deserve a full refund?

Breakfast was nice, with fruit, coffee, tea, juice, pastries, and bread to choose from, and the staff were courteous. The beds were comfortable, but the linens were too large for them, the pillows were completely flat, and the towels looked dingy. After a shower, the bathroom floor gets soaked, so you have to dry yourself while still in the shower and use a towel as an extra mat to step out. The TV was one of those bulky models from the 70s or 80s. The wallpaper needs replacing, and the carpets need cleaning.
