Hostal Andino

We took a bottle of wine to the roof terrace for sundowners, looking out over the vineyards as the last sunlight caught the mountain tops in the distance. It’s a charming tropical oasis just a few minutes’ walk from the square, and the staff were friendly, engaging and helpful.

The location is very nice and the staff are friendly, but the photos are really misleading. It was one of the dirtiest places I’ve stayed, with mold and bugs everywhere. There was even a half-eaten yogurt in our room’s fridge that was rotten and moldy. If you have basic hygiene standards, don’t stay here.

The location was nice, the service very friendly, and breakfast pretty good. But the photos online are misleading and the place is falling into disrepair. There was mold all over the bathroom. One person in our group arrived late at night and had been told someone would be there to greet her, but nobody was around, so we had to wait outside for a while at midnight.

This has been our family’s favorite for years. We’d stayed at Hostal Andino with our children for nearly seven years when visiting Cafayate, and had recommended it to other families. Today, when we called to book, we learned it has new owners and children are no longer allowed. What a disappointment. Who’s ever heard of a hotel that won’t take children? We’re removing it from our list of favorite places and will let others know too.
