Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort

The meals were perfect, and Francisco gave an amazing wine tasting. The rooms are well appointed, and the pool has a gorgeous view. The staff were so helpful and knowledgeable. Absolutely excellent in every way. I hope I can return someday.

It’s a nice property once you get inside, but the location is a long walk down a rough gravel road. For the rooms, I could only judge what I saw: two hard patio chairs on a balcony, and some balconies didn’t even have a table. We’d seen this beautiful place online with glowing reviews and came excited for lunch, but the visit was a letdown. The patio and restaurant face the parking lot, and the small patio is plain. There was just one waiter, who did his best. Ordering took longer than expected, then the Sorrentinos came out unusually fast. They tasted fine, but were lukewarm, with only about five tiny cherry tomatoes. The bill had a big stamp saying THE BILL DOES NOT INCLUDE TIPS, which was the final straw. It felt like a missed opportunity, with the vineyard and lovely grounds inside the hotel itself. No wonder there was hardly anyone around.

We had a very good stay. It’s a beautiful hotel with outstanding service and good value for the money. The restaurant does a great breakfast, along with very nice lunches and dinners.

The road from town is only 2 km, and walking back was lovely, with the mountains and stars to look at. It’s beside Amalaya bodega and vineyard, and the setting is calm and lovely. The hotel has friendly staff, large, comfortable, well-appointed rooms, and a great shower. There’s WiFi throughout, cozy places to sit, and a pool. The restaurant offers a good choice of food and wine, though we usually chose to walk into town for dinner.
