La Joaquina

I felt comfortable staying here on my own, and the welcome was very attentive. It’s three blocks from the lagoon and two from the town center. There’s a lovely garden with a pool, a refrigerator where I could leave food and drinks, and a kitchen set up for simple meals. Beautiful and welcoming hotel. I’d definitely stay again.

The pool was the reason we chose this place, but it was filthy, with human hair in it and so much algae on the bottom that we didn’t use it even in 35-degree heat. The website says all the rooms have climate control, but ours had no air conditioning, and the fans made an unbearable noise. We also had no water until midnight last night, supposedly because of a mistake by the pool attendant. The showers in both rooms didn’t work properly, swinging between water that was scalding and freezing. Cleanliness overall was a disaster. I’ve attached photos. The grass was overgrown, and the glasses and cutlery left in the rooms were dirty. I honestly don’t know how they have 4.6 stars. Maybe the reviewers are friends, or maybe those giving five stars haven’t stayed anywhere else. We won’t be back.

The rooms are very well equipped, with Wi-Fi, a mini-fridge, electric kettle, TV, and hairdryer. It’s a lovely place with beautiful decor and excellent service. Very nice.

The house is lovely and well located. Analía is friendly and attentive to guests. Beautiful place, highly recommended, and we’ll definitely return.
