Cabañas El Refugio

The patio is beautiful, one of the best outdoor spaces I’ve seen, and the pool is excellent for relaxing. I might return someday to see whether the cabins have improved, because I loved those outdoor areas. My partner and I stayed in cabin 1. It was okay, but quite a few things need attention. The bathroom was the worst part. The toilet smelled of urine even after being cleaned with bleach, including the bowl, lid, and surrounding area. The seat also came off easily, which made sitting down incredibly uncomfortable. The flimsy shower curtain kept blowing onto whoever was showering, so we had to keep fighting to hold it in place. The cabin smelled of sewage unless aired out, and we couldn’t rest or do anything else without ventilating it for at least 30 minutes every two hours. The amenities were just enough for two people, but there were no clothespins or spare trash bags. It would be more convenient to have bags on hand than to order them through WhatsApp at a specific time. The bed was another problem: the pillows were old and dirty, and the sheets were old, holey, and torn. For accommodation at that price, that’s unacceptable. The mattress seemed old and creaked, though that was the least of the bedding issues. Interior: 3/10 Exterior: 10/10
