Brisas del Lago

The location is excellent, and I think Colón may be the prettiest city on the banks of the Uruguay River. The internet and TV were a bit unreliable, but that didn't bother me much. The property has a medium-sized pool, grills, and tables outside, though space is limited. Our apartment had a shady parking spot, comfortable beds, clean, practical bathrooms, and a kitchenette that worked for breakfast or a simple dinner. Everything was clean and well looked after, and the service was warm and attentive. I like places that deliver what they promise and charge a fair price for what they offer, and this one did.

We stayed over the May 25th long weekend, and the location and friendly staff were the bright spots. It's two blocks from the hot springs and 10 blocks from the center. Room No. 11 badly needed maintenance: the bathroom door was missing a handle, one of its two lights was out, and there were damp stains and peeling paint. There were no bedside lamps, and the mattress springs were worn out, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. Half the TV channels came through with static. The kitchen cabinet had no drawers or shelves, so the dishes and cutlery were kept at the bottom. At around $100,000 a night, I don't think it was worth the price.

The location was the best part, only 100 meters from the beach and 300 meters from the hot springs. I loved my stay, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable, with a refrigerator, electric kettle, microwave, toaster, and air conditioning, though there was no kitchen. Wi-Fi was available, but the signal varied depending on where you were. The bathroom was fine, everything worked as it should, and the pool and grill area were very well kept.

The location and the staff's attention were the good parts. From outside, the place looks beautiful, but the rest of our stay was a disaster. There were sanitary problems: on arrival, a cigarette butt was leaking, and the MDF cabinet under the counter had swollen from all the water. After they removed it, the plastic sink was left without brackets and was falling apart. One afternoon we had to shower in cold water, and the next morning, while we were still staying there, we couldn't adjust the temperature. There was no microwave or comfortable place to sit and eat. The pool area was very neglected, and the pool itself was tiny for the number of rooms.
